Scott A. Strong Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Scott A. Strong Memorial Scholarship Fund will be awarding a $2,000 scholarship to a 2012 graduating Lake County Public School student and $500 and $1000 scholarships for runners up. You must have a 2.5 GPA and have a track record of being involved in your community. The scholarship can be used for books, fees or tuition at universities, community colleges or technical schools.

Killer Bees and Honey Bees are ready to defend their colonies at the Annual Corporate Spelling Bee on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Lake Receptions. The competition is a great bee-lding exercise and there is no elimination fro wrong answers. Wet N Wild Discounts

 

Wet N Wild has partnered with the foundation again this year and will be offering discount cards in time for spring break to all students and employees of the district. For every card that is redeemed the foundation receives $2.50. For more information, download the flyer here.

The local version of Dancing with the Stars. Come support local celebrities, Amy Cockcroft, Mark Brionez, Robin Paquette, Darren Gray, Vanessa Oliver, Al Cardiello, Sharon Nobles and Marc Robertz-Schwartz as they compete to win the 2012 Mirror Ball Trophy. $125 for general seating, $150 preferred seating includes a seven course dinner, a beer and wine bar and a vote for your favorite celebrity. 2013 Rookie Teacher of the Year

 

 Dr. Susan Moxley, Gabriel Girdner, Dr. Janice Boyd

 

Gabriel Girdner, a seventh grade mathematics teacher at Cecil E. Gray Middle School was named the Lake County 2013 Rookie Teacher of the Year at The Celebration on March 27, 2012. He is currently in his third year of teaching. Other finalists included Christine Palmer from Grassy Lake Elementary and Anthony Mack from Oak Park Middle School.

Finalists selected for school-related employee of the year

 

Spring break may have been a little sweeter for three employees of Lake County Schools as the Thursday before they left for their week vacation a group of officials from the School District and Educational Foundation of Lake County surprised them at their workplace. Employees at each school and department recently selected a nominee for the honor of School-Related Employee of the Year. All nominees filled out an application and a panel of judges' scored the applications to select the three finalists.
